Brony, wanted to congratulate you on your fellow countryman's win at the Indianapolis 500 race. I don't know if you have ever heard of this race but it is one of the most famous car races in this country!!!!! It was nice that someone from New Zealand won and he makes your country proud. It was also nice to hear his accent. Very Happy Very Happy

Still pretty bad but not as bad as you. But the price is supposed to go even higher still here. Everything is going up in price though. I wonder what the cost of living is in your fair land and beyond to New Zealand. It is different here in different parts of the country. I guess us gas guzzling Americans will have to stop buying big cars. Is the price of gas going up for you as well?

Everything here is more expensive, food has gone through the roof. At work I was buying 3kg of pasta for 99p in November, it's £12 a bag now!!!!! at the wholesale. Bread and dairy have more than doubled as has petrol and electric and gas supplies at home. It really is bleeding the average family dry. Sad

Now, what is a "p" I need to look up your money. I don't think in metric either. Hard for me to convert this stuff in my brain. The diesel fuel is more expensive for the truckers. They are having a hard time keeping in business. Ford (an American car company) is going to let jobs go because of this. People are wanting the smaller cars now. And very expensive to buy the hybrids. I cannot afford one. They cost at least $33,000. Yikes! Can't buy one of those!

Thanks Jeanne. We are all so proud of Scott. He is actualy one of my best friends cousin so I text her to say how awesome it was for them. I could almost here her tears of pride in the text she sent me back. He is such a proud kiwi to and a really nice guy as well he often will pick out the NZ reporter to talk to 1st. He knows his roots well and is greatful for the support he has had right through from his early days of karting. The Aussies tried to claim him as theirs because he was actually born there when his parents were on a working holiday. He doesnt consider himself an Aussie and even rolled his eyes to the camera when one of our reporters told him about it. They moved home when he was about 4 years old, the Aussies are always trying to steal our glory. My husband got up and watched the race it was on here at 5am. I just hope he can go all the way and win the championship.

As to fuel ours is over the $2 mark now.

They blackout the race here meaning we cannot watch it on TV so we have to listen to it on the radio. I had never heard of him before. I fell asleep during the race but on the closing laps I went out to the car and turned it on to listen. When I went inside to watch the news after the race they were interviewing him. It was one of our local news guys. That's when I found out he was from New Zealand and the news guy called him a kiwi as well. There was no mention of him being from Australia!!! They did say that New Zealand was excited. Mostly everyone was rooting for the lady, Danika Patrick or Helio Castroneves but I really didn't care who won. But when I heard he was from New Zealand I was glad that he won!!!! I think they said he was the first kiwi to win the race. I am happy for your country and Scott as well. He was very nice on the news when they interviewed him. Like I said he makes your country proud!!!!

Andrea, I looked up what your money was. The "p" is a pence. I thought it was but I didn't know that pence is the plural of penny. I didn't know you used the penny but that is just my ignorance. I also saw the "Royal Shield". That was sure neat looking. (That was where I saw "one penny") Anyways, I thought that was neat how they took the penny, and the other coins and when you put them together they make the Royal Shield. I think the pound coin has the whole picture. I just thought it was cool. Americans use coins but only for the cents, (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) We hardly use the dollar coin at all and I haven't seen the 50 cent coin in a while. Americans much prefer their paper money than to coins when it gets to a dollar or more. The government tried to get people to use the dollar coin but people don't use them. They tried to get them popular again with the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin but that was unsuccessful and then again with Sacagawea dollar coin. Now they are trying with all the U.S. Presidents.

They say coin lasts longer than paper that's why they want us to use it instead of paper. So why keep making paper?

I don't know why they keep making paper dollars. I think the Susan B. Anthony dollar was almost the same size as the quarter though and this was a major flaw. The only place I've ever really seen the Susan B. Anthony dollar recently was a few years back in the postal stamp machines at the post office. I bought some stamps and it game me change in S.B. A. dollars. I think the government was trying to get rid of the surplus of them because they are still legal tender. I've never even seen the Sacagawea dollar coin. I would have to look up why Americans don't like the dollar coins. Maybe it is just simple that we don't like them. I don't know.

We know only have coins for 5, 10, 20, & 50 cents and we have a $1 & $2 coins. Then we have $5, $10, $20, $50 & $100 notes only.

Cale they probably dont like the coins because of the weight. I have a NZ $2 note in my wallet. It is no longer legal tender in New Zealand but I keep it there so I never am without money in my wallet lol.
