I just looked at it. Are you nervous?

I don't think I've ever been more nervous! It's out there now and there's nothing I can do. Kinda like when you send you child off to kindergarten for the first time. You hope everyone will play nice and become friends.

Yes, there is nothing you can do but wait but I'm sure everything will be fine!!!

Cale before you download it, make sure you can put it on your Ipod. I noticed it can only be downed loaded in HTML, adobe or MS reader and the directions for the Ipod was for "plain" text. So make sure you know that one of these can be converted to plain text. HTML is different than "plain" text, I think. You really need a computer savy person to know if any of these versions can be converted to plain text. Just wanted to let you know. I wish that I could be more helpful but I'm not computer smart.

Thanks for the information Jeanne, I got it figured out after how many days of trying, but my ipod will only load so much text. I had been testing it out on one of the free books available (a wilder rose one actually- they use the big "P" and are not referring to cats, as well as the big "C" and there's not a rooster in sight).
I'm going to check eBay and the like to see if I can get a cheap, used reader. My birthday's in a couple of weeks, so I'll have a bit of extra cash. If not, I guess I'll be forced to read Cost of Freedom at the computer.

Those who know about eBook readers and devices, would I be able to read Cost of Freedom on this http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-CLIE-PEG-T615C_W0QQitemZ260247870697QQihZ016QQcategoryZ38331QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ?
I ended up buying Cost of Freedom in Adobe-Whatever-It-Is, because that was the best way to transfer the information into text files. (Explorer was possible, but you needed internet access at all times, and my internet is funky).
Carol, do you think that your publisher would know if I e-mailed Wild Rose Press?

http://the-gadgeteer.com/review/sony_clie_peg_t615c_review

Here is a review. I have to go now but let me check it out. But in the review it says it has a third party adobe cd. Don't know what this means. Cale you can ask the seller that question. There is a link on the page on e-bay. Also on the review page are others selling one but not as cheap. Check out those as well. They may have more information than this seller. And you can ask the seller of these items as well.

Hi Cale,

I think they would know or be able to get the answer for you. I would definitely ask them. I'm sorry you are having a problem with the setup.

Cale, the only problem that I see with this particular one is that the battery only holds for one day which tells me you would probably have to replace the battery at some point. It is supposed to last for 12 days. I would assume that you could replace the battery. But I'm not sure, so check this out. I've had a little more time to check this out this morning. I'm almost for sure that you should be able to read Carol's book because the software on there includes adobe. Ask the seller if the original software he is including has the adobe. Ask him if the battery can be replaced, and ask him if you can transport Carol's book to it from the computer. It holds 16 MB and Carol's book is just over 2 MB. I would think most likely since it is used then the adobe acrobat reader (pdf files) is already installed. Also, this product is not supported by Sony anymore but I did find a website that will give you downloads if you need it. One of it was adobe but it directed you to adobe's website. Also, I don't know what his starting bid is, meaning what is his starting price. Could be $5 or $20 or anything. You just don't know until you bid. My major concern with this one was the battery. I can't find a price on the battery. I just read the lithium ion batteries are expensive so I don't know. I can't find any online. Ask him exactly what the battery says on it. It should have a number on the battery. That way I can look it up more precisely. He says it is in fair condition but I would have to say poor condition because it only charges up for about a day when it should charge up for 12 days. You don't want to buy something that has poor battery power and then have to spend more money on a battery but like I said, I don't know how much a new battery will be. Also he doesn't have a return policy.

Here are some websites to replace the battery. I just found some.

https://www.ipods99.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SONY+Clie+T615c&Click=2171&gclid=CKnYwOj935MCFQKcFQodB3kUWQ

http://www.longlast-battery.com/productCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=241&idproduct=17675&gclid=CKfyzoj-35MCFQaYQAodv3T-WQ

http://www.apexbattery.com/sony-clie-peg-t615c-s-pda-battery-b-8616.html?CAWELAID=161850689

Anyways, this will give you an idea how much a battery would be. Perhaps you can buy one in the store but I really believe that if you buy this product on e-bay, you are probably going to have to replace the battery at some point.

Also could mean that maybe the charger is bad as well. This is a possibility as well. But I would think that if the charger was bad then it wouldn't charge at all. I would probably not buy this product. Unless of course, it was dirt cheap. There were other ones listed as well that seemed to be of better quality than this one but they were more expensive. Some had return policies and some didn't. One had more memory than 16 MB. There were bids on some of the others but not on this one.

Found this on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=SONY+CLIE%27+PEG-T615C&x=9&y=21

This has one at $59 (just scroll down) and includes so much more than the other one on e-bay. Like the stylus. Also has batteries for sale, much cheaper than the ones I posted above if you need to buy a battery. Okay, I'm done looking this stuff up. I'm ready to buy one myself now!!!! I would probably go with the $59 one than the one on e-bay. But that is just me. I wonder how much it costs to up grade the memory. I have a sony camera with 64 or 128 MB of RAM. I wonder if it uses the same memory stick? 16 MB is not a lot. Neither is 64 or 128 anymore. Okay, I'm done here!!!!!

Wow! Jeanne, I can see what Carol meant when she said how good you are at research. I never expected that much information, thank you. I'm going to do a bit of browsing, see what I can find, because I was thinking that I'd need one for when Bound By Honor comes out, and if Carol gets her others accepted (I know you will) for those as well. Thanks again for all your help. Cool
Carol, you've no reason to be sorry. I like to look at these as kind of a quest. Wink

Just want to add one more thing. The shipping on Amazon was much cheaper. $6 and I calculated the one on e-bay to Indy and it was almost $11. I just think in the long run, the one on Amazon was much better. Some of the other ones on e-bay costs $15-$20 to ship. Okay, really done now!!!! I wonder what his starting bid is? Just really curious.
