| Now I heard, Andrea you'll have to let us know, that couples could go anywhere across the Scotland border, not just Gretna Green. |

| I think your right Cale but Gretna Green I believe is the 1st town across the boarder and it was the blacksmith who married people across his anvil which apparently is still there. On our trip this year as we return to Nottingham from Edinburgh my husband and I are going to go via GG and I want us to renew our vows to each other. 19 years married but by then 28 years together. One of my work mates who is from Edinburgh told me that apparently to book your wedding at the anvil you have to book like 2 years ahead. She said there is not a lot in GG now but I still want to go there. |

Hi everybody. I joined Ancestry.com so I've been busy entering names. I have hundreds of names to enter and I've also been fighting over the computer with my kids. Cale, I'm going to be a member for at least two months so I'm going to give you the password so you can start searching soon. First let me get my names added. That may take a month. So please start getting your data together so you can start in about a month. That will give you time to get what you need. You just have to promise me that you will not reveal my age when you see my tree. You can look at it if you want. There is also a dumb picture of me!!! Anyways, just wanted to let you know. _________________ Don't cry if you have lost the sun. The tears won't permit you to see the stars. |

All right, I'll start getting as much info as possible. My mom's mother should have the most names going back pretty far, but from what's been said not much exciting on that side. My mom's father is deceased, and he is who we get our "color" or "eccentricities" from, but I know a distant relative has done some already, hence the horse theives. My father's dad is full blooded Lithuanian his parents came over from there. Now it's my very traditional, proper grandmother that has the interesting past with the bootleggers and all, and that's where I'm distantly Irish. May only be like 1/64 irish, but I am very proud of that heritage- you'd have to meet me in person to know what I'm talking about.
Ooh, getting excited! |

My great-grandfather was full Irish. I have other Irish ancestors as well. I think my gg grandparents from another branch. And I have English, Kiwi, Brazilian, Portuguese. Too many. But I am half Brazilian. I found my mother's boat that she came on to America and those transcribers at Ancestry said she was Spanish, lol. It doesn't say it on the original record but the people at ancestry just put in Spanish. I would think that if Ancestry was going to have transcribers, then they would hire someone with intelligence. Another funny thing, when I was looking for my g grandfather from Ireland, I found one with his name that said "inmate" I looked at the record thinking he was in prison or something but it turned out to be a home for old soldiers or something like that. It was the 1920 Census. He would have been 73. And this person was the same age. It could have been him because he was always traveling during his lifetime looking for that pot of gold. He was at the silver mines in Tombstone, comstoke lode, diamond mines in South Africa, and the Yukon for gold. I've confirmed all the above except the Comstoke lode. But most likely he was there. Also, he was in Tombstone two years after Wyatt Earp left. I know this from a record and I checked when Wyatt Earp was there. The question is, when my great grandfather arrived there. Maybe he was there during the gunfight at the OK Corral. LOL _________________ Don't cry if you have lost the sun. The tears won't permit you to see the stars. |

| That's so interesting. My great aunt's neighbor is a distant relative to a famous old west outlaw, kind of like Jesse James. Can't remember what his name was, but there have actually been movies about him.4 |

Hey Cale, I've entered now 452 names. I have just about lost my silly mind. On the Pascall side there are 2000 names and who knows how many more on the Osbornes. Probably hundreds. That doesn't even count the Brazilian side which I have hundreds at least. I've been trying to enter every day but I've reached my level of impatience. I may let you get on sooner than a month. I was trying to think of the best (sneakiest) way on how to put you on without Ancestry getting wise. There is an option at the top where I can start a new tree. I think that is the best way. I've invited all my family to contribute but they can only contribute. They can't look anything up. I wonder if Ancestry. looks at IP addresses. Well, I guess we won't know until we try. We will also have to figure out the times for you to be on and the times for me to be on. What are the best hours for you? Mine would be mornings, maybe early afternoons. Occasional evenings. Most Evenings, late afternoons and nights are usually the boys' time. I don't want to be on at the same time. They may get wise. But for $30 a month why should they give a crap. You know something, I thought that I could enter these names quickly but that is not the case. _________________ Don't cry if you have lost the sun. The tears won't permit you to see the stars. |

Where is Cale??? I've been wanting to let him on Ancestry to start his tree. Yesterday, I went to Southern Indiana to search for dead people. It was quite fun and plan to go back because I still have a lot to do. Anyways, I found my gg grandfather's grave and on it was the Free Mason symbol. That was cool. My sister and I were trying to clean up the other stones from my family. They were in a pile. We managed to clean a few. That town was really neat that they lived by. In the same county Abraham Lincoln lived there for a while. He may have passed paths with some of my ancestors. I don't know. They have these little cemeteries everywhere. I was searching for one with my ggg grandmother but couldn't find it. There was at least 4 cemeteries with ancestors in there but I couldn't visit them all. Also, a lot of information too. I liked this area. Much different than the city. It was an adventure to say the least and I'm glad I finally got to go somewhere. I haven't been anywhere since 2004. I was so happy to get away from it all even if it was to look for dead people. LOL _________________ Don't cry if you have lost the sun. The tears won't permit you to see the stars. |
