Thanks Jeanne. Works very busy. I had a horrendous day today getting out of there an hour half late. I hate it when I come home knowing there is heaps I havent done and even though I know that nursing is 24 hours a day I hate the fact that I have left more for the next nurse than just her normal stuff. This was my 1200 hour ....

I got told I was needed in room 7 as I had a patient fall and split his head open, this whilst I was getting ready to clean up the man in rm1 with a very wet bed after his catheter bag had come apart and leaked all through the bed, and one of my other pts at this time was brought back to the ward and needed me to help transfer her back on to her bed and she was all emotional because she has been with us for weeks and was feeling we were sick of her not to mention the lady who had been waiting for me to redress her wounds and help her get cleaned up for the past 2 hours after the wound nurse had reviewed her.

I hated my name as I was being called at one point by five different people. lol I really do LOVE my job sometimes. Did I tell you .... Its International Nurses Day today.

The nurses work is hard. It takes a special person being a nurse. They deal with so much. My sister is a nurse. She became friends with a patient of hers and she was giving him home care for the last 10 years maybe. And this patient was only allowed to get 16 hours a day nursing care because the government was paying for his care. He was a quadroplegic and the other 8 hours, he was taken care of by a girlfriend. Well, the girlfriend dumped him so he ended up in a nursing home. The nursing home didn't take care of him and he got the pressure wounds really bad. My sister was still going to see him and then he got infection in the bones and they wanted to cut off both of us his legs, even up to the pelvic area to try and save his life which it probably wouldn't have done any good. He was terminal because of the infection. This patient didn't want this so he opted to end his life. They gave him some drugs to put him to sleep and then unhooked the vent. (He had always been on a vent) Anyways took him about a minute to die. My sister was really upset and said she would no longer be a nurse but she still is. She is working at the jail in our city. She figures it will be easier not to get emotionally involved anymore with patients at the jail. I guess it is difficult sometimes not to get involved when you take care of someone for 10 years. I'm going to look up the International Nurses day. You deserve to be recognized, for sure.
